Real Estate
Our practice includes deeds, mortgages, land trusts, land contracts, leases, title insurance, purchasing and selling property, farm transactions, real estate disputes, and environmental issues, as well as planning and zoning, among many other real estate matters.
Business and Corporations
We have handled matters involving corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, business contracts, financing documents, trusts, and other types of business entities and business relationships.
Estate Planning
Estate planning documents cover a host of needs that may arise during someone’s lifetime as well as convey assets after death. Most plans include a will, power of attorney, and health care document, and many include a revocable living trust.
Estate Administration and Probate
When a person dies, his or her estate may have to go through probate. This is a process overseen by a probate court. If the decedent leaves a will directing how his or her property should be distributed after death, the probate court must determine if it should be admitted to probate and given legal effect. If the decedent dies intestate—without leaving a will—the court appoints a Personal Representative to distribute the decedent's property according to the laws of descent and distribution.
Civil Litigation
Civil litigation is a legal dispute between two or more individuals or businesses that seek money damages or specific performance. We regularly represent parties in trials, hearings, arbitrations and mediations before administrative agencies, and federal, state, and local courts.
Municipal Law
We have, for nearly 30 years, represented several local units of government including the City of Seymour, Jackson County, the Town of Crothersville, and our local municipal airport authority. We also represent clients before municipal boards and commissions.
